Elegant and Contemporary Living Room

I had an amazing privilege of working on another Living Room this month and it was an absolute joy! My client was so trustworthy. Our biggest challenge was to make her living room a separate space from the main walkway and front entrance. Here is what we came up with:

Enjoy!

Whats in my Diaper Bag

Since our baby girl will be delivered at a Birthing Center, I'll be packing my diaper bag like I would if I'm going out somewhere, so it'll be very simple because we only stay there a few hours after birth (how cool).

So, this is what I packed for the baby this time around:

Living Room Project

Recently I've met up with a client to do some work on her home (which is so gorgeous btw). We first started working on the Living Room layout.  It was so much fun working with someone who has a particular style that they like and have a beautiful home to decorate.

Here is an Inspirational Board and a Floor plan Layout that we've started with:

TRIBECCA HOME Knightsbridge Beige Linen Tufted Scroll Arm Chesterfield Sofa: Overstock

INSPIRE Q Edmaire Rustic Baluster Weathered Pine Coffee Table: Overstock

Blythe End Table: Joss and Main

Bombay Monacco Console Table - Antique Brass: Target

Barney Upholstered Bedroom Bench by Safavieh: Wayfair

Pillows: Pier1

Floor plan Layout:

The size of the living room is 15' x 16. We needed to create lots of sitting space and make it fit this "Rustern" style (rustic and modern aesthetics). Two large Chesterfield sofas were a perfect match for this beautiful home.

Boy's Bedroom Industrial

Eli’s big boy room had been put on hold for while due to baby girl news and the fact the we decided to put them in separate rooms, I just didn't want to think about his room because I knew I would want to make it perfect and I had a demandingly picky idea in my head of what I wanted, but just didn't want to think about it so I wouldn't overwhelm myself while I'm pregnant. But, this day had to come especially due to the fact that he's so ready for a big boy bed and even thou I’m so afraid that he will officially stop sleeping 11-12 hours at night, it still seems like the perfect timing for him.

I have noticed that Eli had been literally obsessed with airplanes since he was 13-14 months old and ever since we took him to Airport Overlook, he had just been noticing every airplane there is. So, it was a no-brainer for what theme to pick for his room. My whole perspective on his room is long-term, so I didn't want to make it colorful looking. Since I love architecture and design, I wanted to incorporate that “blueprints” theme to his room decor. I will be drawing all blueprints of vintage airplanes and hang it as art work in his room. I have been checking some kids stores for bedding that had something like that for a while and everything “Airplane” themed was very kiddish looking…until I looked at Restoration Hardware Baby & Child (I have been avoiding looking there because I love that store and its so, so pricey) but they had literally “the one” bedding that I want. So we are compromising and Ill be getting just the Duvet Cover and a Sham from there and bedsheets from Target. (now keep in mind, we are not doing toddler bedding, but going straight to Twin, so this is long-term)

Now, for furniture pieces, where do I start… it'll be from Target to Burlington to Custom Made. The Desk & Shelving unit will be made by my wonderful and super talented husband. p.s. if you want to buy solid wood furniture for nursery or your child's room, check our burlington baby depot. You wont be disappoint!

Color scheme is very important when it comes to design, so we will be keeping it pretty neutral with grays and blacks and a navy blue accent color due to his rug that we're taking from his nursery that I absolutely love and his curtains that I bought from Ikea that are just perfect for his room.  We will be painting one accent wall (I typically don’t like accent walls, but it'll look great in his room) and it'll be black chalk paint.
