Dark Furniture doesn't have to be an Eyesore

Happy Thursday, it's finally almost weekend. This week I have been adding finishing touches on Christmas decor in our home so now that I am done, I can finally sit back and relax and enjoy our warm and cozy home.

Our bedroom has dark furniture that we got from West Elm and also a dark brown couch from World Market. We love our furniture, but everything white is so popular right now that leaves you questioning if you should get all new furniture or save some money and still get the all white look with just tweaking things around.

Here are some tips you can use to brighten up your room:
-Paint your walls light color
-Add white curtains
-Hang art pieces in white/silver frames
-Go with all white bedding
-Add light color Pillows to your sitting area
-"less is more"
-keep your decor and furniture to the minimum

And thats it, enjoy!

Decorating Home Office for Christmas

For those of you who work from home, you can be as creative as you want when it comes to decorating your work space for the holidays.

Here are some reasons that you should decorate:

-It'll give you motivation to work
-You'll feel Christmasy and Happy
-It's a good change of atmosphere since you always work in that area

Now, on to design tips. I decorated our office space with leftover decor that I decorated the house with and I also used office pieces that I already had. So, its pretty and you don't even have to spend any money.

P.S. My secret to having these beautiful book covers is using leftover tissue paper, yup! Its transparent so I can still see what books are underneath, and they all match. It's a win win!

This year I ordered our Christmas Cards from VistaPrint and I'm completely in love with them. I upgraded for the pearly finish and they are just so beautiful and really well priced

Annette's Elegant Nursery

I'm one of those people that just can't leave one thing as is when it comes to design, I will keep tweaking and changing things as days go by. So, here is a little update on Annette's nursery for you guys to enjoy.

Ever since I was planing her nursery when I was still pregnant, I wanted a large mirror above the changing table, but just couldn't find the right one that would fit into my decorating budget. So, I settled for a small mirror with some DIY decorative hooks on both sides. After months of searching, I finally got a beautiful mirror from my sister in law (yay) that fit like a glove above the changing table.

Holiday Table Decor

Happy Monday Friends! Todays post is about fruit and decorating your home with it. I love it when I have either fresh flowers or greenery to display thru out my home, but sometimes fruit work just as well. Its always fun to mix it with items you have in your house.

Christmas Miracle

Merry Christmas everyone!

This year's Christmas is not like any other Christmas that I have ever had. This year I'm really focusing on Gods grace, miracles and mercy: Grace that He gives us, when we don't deserve it. Miracles that He still performs even amongst the weakest believers, like me. And the kind of Mercy that He had for all of us, when He rewarded His sinless son by killing Him on the cross, so that we can have life.

This year has been so incredibly challenging for my family in every single way. I'm not going into any details because it is too much, but I will always remember the closeness that  have experienced with the Holy God in those hardest moments.

This year our miracle is Annette Lydia and we are blessed  to get to spend this Christmas as a family of four. God didn't bless us with this miracle because we are good, but simply because He sees past our sin, our weakness and pitifulness, He sees the true "us" who are desperate for Him.

This story is about us, what God has planned for you is different and may be more challenging, maybe because you are stronger.

I share this not because I want pity, but because I want you to praise God for where He has you right now, no matter what situation you're in. Don't wait to praise Him when things get tough, praise him for the easy and the hard because everything He does is for His glory. Let Him use you to bring glory to Him.

with Love,

Kitchen Hutch Decor

Hey guys, I haven't posted in a while here because we have so much going on right now. Also, I didn't do much summer decor this year.

I did however update our kitchen hutch a few weeks back, but just could not find the time to take pictures. So here it finally is.

I started by taking everything out and then separated all the dishes into 2 sections (one section was what I wanted to keep in the hutch and the other section was to put away)

I had an idea of what I wanted to do with the decor, but mainly I just went with the stuff that I already have. I did end up buying a salad bowl from World Market (it was just too cute not to buy)

White Kitchen

Happy Thursday! It's finally spring here in our beautiful North Carolina. With this warm weather, everything feels so light and fresh.

Finally I'm posting a blog about our kitchen.

We were fortunate to have my dad make us our custom kitchen. I designed this kitchen when I was still in college and was just married. Our old kitchen was one of those typical stock kitchens that you find in lots of homes. It wasn't bad, we just wanted something new and light.

Our house is located on wooded lot. Yes, its beautiful, but it also makes our house a bit shady sometimes and don't we all love that natural light in our home? So, a white kitchen was the perfect choice. We picked black countertops because our appliance are black and this way it goes well together.

Oh, and that last picture is a bonus!!! Our little Annette Lydia is 4 weeks old today:)
